Building a better training system
While the VET system has significant strengths and international standing, and despite significant reforms over the past decade, concerns remain about:
- the responsiveness of the system to the needs of industry and employers
- distorted incentives
- the complexity of the system
- inconsistent quality and
- unnecessary regulatory burden and red tape.
The VET Reform Taskforce has been established to look at ways to do this and progress agreed reforms.
The six objectives for VET reform
The Council of Australian Governments’ Industry and Skills Council has agreed to six objectives for the VET system. The objectives will shape VET reform to support the current and future skills needs of Australian businesses.
